The Problem Indoor Menace
Formation of Mold, Mildew, Other Fungi & Bacteria
The Cause....
Airtight Construction
The average person spends 90% of his and her time indoors and
mold, mildew, other fungi and bacteria formation have become
more common in indoor settings primarily because of airtight
construction usage for energy efficiency.
- Many
conventional building materials and cleaning agent residues
can harbor a variety of contaminants and because so many
buildings are "sealed" for energy conservation
purposes, these biological contaminants are never flushed
out - they remain and multiply on virtually every surface.
- Regular
paints and finishes are susceptible to degradation and attack
by molds, causing unsightly discoloration and unpleasant
odors.
The
Reason.... Moisture & Heat
- Any
indoor slow water and moisture leaks from air conditioners,
humidifiers, dehumidifiers, cold storage, and even hot showers
or baths that create moisture with heat, can lead to the
development of mold, mildew, fungi and bacteria. In addition,
similar problems can also be caused when big storms hit
anywhere in the country or there are sudden and accidental
water discharges from frozen and burst pipes. The long-term
ramifications of any interior water damage, not properly
dealt with could result in creating an unlivable interior
environment.
The
Location.... Interior Spaces
- Such
mold, mildew, other fungi and bacteria very often either
hide behind or develop on open surfaces such as walls, floors,
carpet, sink areas, counter and table tops, cold and hot
storage, ceilings, furniture, a variety of woods and air
ducts creating deterioration, odors, unsightly surfaces,
etc.
